Near the end of private passenger service some railroads, through pullman, intorduced a type of car called the Thrift-T-Sleeper. It provided a cheaper pullman fare to trains that only had full pullman sleeper rooms and roomettes. They reintroduced the Pullman berth to these specific trains. One such was a set of MP 8-3-1 heavyweights. These featured on the Colorado Eagle as through cars onto the DRGW Royal Gorge. This falls outside of my specific modeling era and area. However, these etch steel partial kits are not common. When I found this at a local hobby store the owner checking me out joked if I was sure this came from their store. As such, no decal sets or paint exist for MP passenger trains to complete this car to prototype. The eventual goal is to have this as part of the "tourist train" fleet on the SLVS. This is in the early stages of a complete reconstruction after a year long hiatus. The original work was shoddy and used way to much super glue. The core and sides are salvageable and I hope to have it primed before winter.
7/30/2025: took apart the core and after some clean up started re-assembling the car body.
